It is the vision of the English Skills Learning Center to bring the promise of integration, security and empowerment to adult immigrants and refugees in Salt Lake City.
The ESL Center serves adult refugees and immigrants in the Salt Lake City area who come from 34 different countries. About 70% of our students are women, and about half of our students are immigrants and half of our students are refugees.
Currently, our students are from Afghanistan, Argentina, Bhutan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Burma (Myanmar), Burundi, Cambodia, China, Columbia, Congo, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Guatemala, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Sudan, Togo, and Vietnam.
Refugees being resettled in Utah in 2009 are from Bhutan, Burma (Myanmar), Congo, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, and Vietnam.
