It's more productive for businesses to help current employees get better at their jobs than to replace them, hoping the newcomers won't repeat the same mistakes. When good employees could be excellent workers if they had better English skills, it especially makes sense to invest in language education. That's what some Salt Lake Valley employers have found, and the beneficiaries of their generosity in providing language training on-site include both the business's bottom line and the workers themselves. The companies contract with the English Skills Learning Center to offer classes to employees and the programs are paying off in fewer mistakes, better communication with co-workers and customers and a healthier profit.
