I recently had the opportunity to observe one of the most fun classes that I have seen at the ESLC! The Copperview Intermediate class has been working on a health unit and to review what they've learned in their class, their tutor Julie simulated a doctor's office in class. Students filled out a form when they arrived in the office, they were seated in the "waiting room" by the receptionist (one of the students), and then they met with the doctor (Julie) and had to describe their symptoms to her and follow her directions (i.e. "Stick out your tongue.") She would then do an x-ray or give them a diagnosis and some "medicine" (candy.) The students loved it! Julie was kind enough to send us her lesson plan and you can find it on the ESLC Materials Archive in the "Lesson Plans and Activities" folder under "At the Doctor's Office Lesson Plan." It was developed for intermediate students but may be adapted for a beginner class. Have fun with it and make sure to take pictures and let us know how it goes!
