Our citizenship classes show a 96% pass rate on the naturalization test, they are FREE and help students reduce their stress and take their exam with confidence.

Citizenship Program

We have been offering Citizenship classes in Salt Lake County since 2008. We have a dedicated team managing this program. Annually we enroll an average of 250 students into the program. Even though many of our students begin with low English language skills, we have a 96% pass rate on the naturalization test.

We use USCIS official approved books and materials and resources from the USCIS website. We serve residents eligible or close to eligibility for the Naturalization test. Over the years, we have served students from at least 70 countries that includes many under served refugees and immigrants. Approximately 35% of the students that we serve are over the age of 50. All the students we serve are living well below the median income level and many have not had access to any formal education experience.

Other citizenship instruction service providers in Salt Lake County operate on the large, mixed level classroom model, charge fees for instruction, or target single ethnic communities. Our program is unique in the sense that we work with various partners and offer smaller classes in several locations for the convenience of the students. We hold classes in the morning and evening, which are taught by an experienced instructor and well trained volunteers. Classes are taught Monday - Thursday and Saturdays.

Students must first enroll before attending classes. Students must bring their permanent residence card (Green Card) during registration and prepare for up to 2 hours of assessment. Students will be assessed on their oral, reading and writing skills and their knowledge of civics - US government and history. Students will also be assessed after 40 hours of class attendance. Attendance is a requirement. During orientation students will receive a binder with study materials.

Enrollment is done in our office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 3pm. Please contact us for an appointment if you can not make it on the dates and times listed.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've suspended office visits for enrollment. Please contact the number below and leave a message if you are interested in attending the ESLC's Citizenship program. A team member will return your call as soon as we get it. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
