Hedy, one of the dedicated instructors at the English Skills Learning Center, was named the Outstanding Educator of the Year at the 2025 COABE Conference. This recognition underscores Hedy's commitment to teaching and her positive influence on the lives of adult learners in Salt Lake County.

Celebrating Hedy's Achievement

Hedy's road to this award has been paved with over 40 years of hard work and passion as an adult educator. She currently teaches citizenship preparation classes, helping learners take one of the most meaningful steps in their journey, becoming U.S. citizens. Her work is about so much more than passing a test. It’s about building confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging.

Beyond the classroom, Hedy supports her fellow educators, shares her expertise freely, and contributes to improving adult education across the community. Her passion, dedication, and heart are an inspiration to all of us.

COABE and Its Significance

This award was presented by the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE), which is the largest adult education association in the world, representing over 80,000 educators. The annual COABE conference drew more than 4,200 attendees this year, making this recognition a true national honor.
